Phoenicia & Le Vendôme InterContinental welcomes new General Manager

The Phoenicia and Le Vendome InterContinental hotels in Beirut, Lebanon announced the appointment of Robert P. Herr as Area General Manager.
Mr. Herr brings a wealth of strong operational and international leadership experience having worked across two continents and five countries. He shall be responsible in leading, managing and developing over 500 luxurious rooms in both properties.
The new general manager will oversee the implementation of new initiatives to enhance the account portfolio for the hotels, food & beverage outlets, meetings and events and Spas by bringing in new business, increasing profitability and achieving a better positioning of the hotel in the key markets around the world.
Robert originally joined IHG in 1993 as a Rooms Division trainee and as a member of the Fast Track graduate development program. Since then he has taken on a number of operational roles at InterContinental Hotels in Hamburg, Paris, Leipzig, New York, Vienna, Prague leading up to his first General Manager assignment in 2003 at the Crowne Plaza Hamburg.
He then became the pre-opening and opening General Manager of the InterContinental Dusseldorf, followed by General Manager appointments at the InterContinental Prague and at our flagship property in Berlin where he took over the helm in 2010.
Robert is a Swiss national and fluent in German, English, French and Italian. He holds a degree in hospitality management from the Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne, Switzerland as well as a Master of Business Administration from Henley University, Oxfordshire, UK. Robert will be joined by his wife and two sons.
Speaking on his appointment, Robert said, “It’s an honor to lead hospitality role-models in the Middle East, two of the most elegant hotels worldwide. I shall work to add nothing but positive outcomes.”
Herr likes to spend time in the outdoors with his family. “Lebanon offers it all, where else can you ski in the morning and relax at the beach in the afternoon,” he said.
